Nederlands Dans Theater and Complicité - WINNER

Figures in Extinction

Conceived by Crystal Pite and Simon McBurney, this is a ground-breaking co-production between Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and Complicité.

Developed over four years, this trilogy, performed by NDT 1, responds to escalating environmental and social collapse, evolving through three interconnected works that fuse dance, spoken word, music, and documentary elements into a singular theatrical experience.

Celebrated for its artistic depth and emotional intensity, the trilogy journeys through themes of ecological loss, human disconnection, and collective grief. From a stark catalogue of extinct species to a raw examination of human longing and a final reflection on death and remembrance, Figures in Extinction moves with clarity and power. It ultimately offers a glimmer of hope - asking where we might go next, collectively, and imaginatively, in the face of crisis.

This is contemporary performance at its most fearless, interdisciplinary, and affecting.

Ruination

A co-production between Lost Dog and The Royal Ballet, Ruination is a bold and unforgettable reimagining of the Medea myth for the 21st century, at once erotically contemporary and agonisingly timeless.

Conceived and directed by Ben Duke in collaboration with a remarkable team of performers, musicians and creatives, the work blends dance, theatre, live music and spoken word. By peeling back the layers of betrayal, heroism and cruelty, Duke, uncovers a tale that is altogether more human, heartbreaking and ordinary.
