For more than four decades, Music in the Round has brought audiences closer to music through its distinctive ‘in the round’ performances, combining world-class artistry with an unwavering commitment to inclusivity. Rooted in Sheffield but reaching audiences across the UK, it has redefined how chamber music is experienced, breaking down barriers between performers and audiences while nurturing the next generation through pioneering education programmes. Music in the Round’s flagship annual Sheffield Chamber Music Festival, presented with resident musicians Ensemble 360 in the Crucible Theatre, is a reminder of what community feels like when classical music is proudly part of the cultural offer.

For changing what classical music looks like, sounds like and means, Chineke! has transformed the cultural landscape over the past decade. Through championing Black and ethnically diverse musicians, composers and stories, it has expanded opportunities, enriched the classical canon and welcomed new audiences into the artform. Its anniversary season celebrated not only exceptional artistry but also the lasting impact of a movement that has reshaped representation in classical music. Ambitious, inspiring and culturally significant, Chineke! continues to prove that excellence and inclusion go hand in hand.
